Travelling from India to UK: Medicine Carry Limits

UK Customs Stance

The UK is relatively open regarding personal medication. You can bring most prescription medicines provided they are for personal use.

Key Guidelines

  • Quantity: The rule of thumb is a 3-month supply maximum. Anything more might be suspected as commercial import.
  • Controlled Drugs: If you are carrying morphine, diazepam, or strong opioids, you strictly need a personal license if the supply is for 3 months or more. For shorter trips, a doctor's letter is usually sufficient.
  • Ayurvedic Meds: Generally allowed, but ensure they do not contain endangered plant or animal species (CITES restrictions).
